Broadstairs Kent is a more traditional English Seaside town, it has a fairly large sheltered bay with a nice beach called Viking Bay

The Town and beach has featured recently in a few Adverts on TV for an energy company EDF, although making it look extremely windy!

Also for McDonalds and Waitrose due to it 's picturesque nature.

An episode of the comedy 'Derek' starring Rickie Gervais was partly filmed on Viking bay and Dumpton Gap

November 2014 saw 'Lady in the Van' starring Dame Maggie Smith being filmed in the town

2016 we saw the showing of Kingsgate Bay in the Beach seen of Mr. Selfridge, with a mention of Botany Bay

full of many independent shops and only very few chain stores, lots of Bed and Breakfast / Hotels to enjoy, many with fantastic views into the English channel, or a short walk from them

Visit Broadtairs Kent for some annual events that take place such as The Broadstairs Dickens Festival, Saturday 14th & Friday 20th June 2014 so why not visit to see many Victorian dressed people parading the streets and clifftop.

Broadstirs Folk Week is on Friday 5th to Friday 12th August 2016, when the town is taken over by Folk bands and is hard to miss if you go anywhere during this week.

The town has two main Foreign Language schools, Hilderstone college which is aimed at the more mature/adult students from around the world

and Kent School of English (KSE) which is more for school age students, boosting the population considerably at times

Dickens week of course is to celebrate the fact that Charles Dickens use to Holiday in Broadstairs and is reputed to have written at least one of his books here

Some other famous people connected with Broadstairs are Sir Edward (Ted) Heath MP who was born here

Thomas Russell Crampton who was also born here and was a highly respected Engineer

And the co-creator of Bagpuss and the clangers and ivor the engine, Oliver Postgate also lived here until he passed away, his house now has an English Heritage Blue Plaque to commemorate this just off chandos Square on the seafront. It also has a mural of the clangers!
